MEADS STUDENTS TEAM WITH OTHER SCHOOLS FOR KIDS AGAINST HUNGER
Approximately thirty of our sixth and seventh
graders joined with Ridge Wood students and Bennett Elementary School (Detroit) to
produce food packets. The project is called Kids Against Hunger through an organization
called Bridgepointe. Bridgepointe seeks ways to connect urban and suburban schools to
help them understand each other. We are literally bridging our differences with a common
purpose on a common ground for the good of the less fortunate in third world countries.
The beauty of the program is that both the urban and suburban students can establish a
relationship on equal footing. The Mother’s Club of Northville has donated $2000 of the
$2500 we needed to purchase materials. Kathy Bernard
has worked hard to help with this project.
