IB Facts and Figures

Northville Public Schools began a study of IB during the 2008-09 school year. The study was presented to the Board of Education in September of 2009, and members approved moving forward at the secondary level. For more information about the IB study and subsequent community presentations visit the Study Committee page by clicking the link above.

Hillside Middle School, Meads Mill Middle School, and Northville High School formed a secondary partnership currently in the International Baccalaureate (IB) candidacy phase. This phase allows staff access to professional development and the IB online curriculum center, provides opportunities to dialog with colleagues all around the world, and access an IB consultant assigned to the district. It is a time when parents and staff combine to build shared understanding and to help with the Northville Public Schools' action plan necessary for authorization. Parents may apply to be a part of the International Baccalaureate Advisory Council, (IBAC) and help collaborate to make important recommendations.

  • All students in both middle schools and ninth and tenth graders will participate in and benefit from the IB Middle Years Program (MYP)
  • Students in eleventh and twelfth grades can elect to enroll in Diploma Program (DP) courses.

Community members and parents may contribute to the program through the Northville Education Foundation (NEF). In addition to general contributions, the focus will be on International Mindedness allowing community members an opportunity to showcase their mother country, favorite destination, or overseas nation where family and friends may live. More information on these initiatives will be shared in January.
